Hello!
My name is Katie Thorne and I am so excited to be teaching you this year! I have taught four years in kindergarten at Peculiar Elementary, I moved schools and taught four years in second grade at Creekmoor Elementary, then I taught kindergarten again for one year at Creekmoor Elementary. I am happy to be back in this second grade classroom at Creekmoor Elementary.
Let me begin by telling you about myself. I graduated from Central Missouri State University (now called University of Central Missouri) in Warrensburg, MO with a double major. My first major was a BS in Early Childhood Education and my second major was a BS in Elementary Education. I went on to earn my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, KS. I continued still to earn my Educational Specialist degree in Educational Technology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Now I am almost finished earning another Master's Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Literacy Education.
I have been married for almost 8 years to my husband Brandon Thorne. We have a daughter who will be 3 years old in June named Bentley, and we are expecting our son on July 7, 2011. He is the reason for my maternity leave at the beginning of the year! We live in Greenwood, MO and have lived there for eight years.
I enjoy scrapbooking, collecting children's books, reading, and learning! I look forward to this year with each of you and I can't wait to meet you!
